The fabric is dense yet low-rise with a set of longitudinal, narrow streets and small passages, that gets one disorientated quite quick: The Oude Westen is a neighborhood in its own rights, right in the city center of Rotterdam. Let’s find out how to give it an upgrade that is as unique as the hood itself in a typical manner of the city of Rotterdam.

Ein Meisterwerk des Brutalismus, zugleich eine der größten Vieh-Auktionshallen der Welt, steht seit 50 Jahren leer an der Peripherie von Padua. Das Studio erlöst den Systembau aus Betonfertigteilen von seinem Koma am Rande einer Autobahn und transportiert die Einzelteile in die Innenstadt von Padua.

The walls of the Montreuil “Murs à Pêches” are masterful structures of ecology, microclimate, and economy. For this studio we’ll focus on this compelling site by exploring the enclosure as an architectural large form, the wall as the simplest form of greenhouse, a machine to create climate, an ecological system.

Chillsport verbindet Chillen mit Aktivität, Realität mit Fiktion. Es sind bereits Ideen für Chill-Elemente von Schüler:innen und Studierenden entstanden, die gestalterisch zugespitzt und auf dem Vorplatz der Mittelschule gemeinsam gebaut werden. Die Ästhetik des Gebrauchs wird performativ untersucht und 1:1 realisiert.

Deine Gunst der Kunst! Laternen und andere Spitzen

Transparente Räume entstehen aus dem Bedürfnis nach Freiheit, nach Licht und Luft und aus dem Verlangen heraus, bestehende gesellschaftliche Strukturen aufzubrechen. Anhand der lichten Aufstockung eines Bestands erarbeiten wir uns die konstruktiven Grundlagen des Glas- und Metallbaus vom Entwurf bis ins Detail.

Für München werden wir mit Kurzentwürfen Typologien & Strategien einer „Open City" entwerfen. Das Studio „Open City Psirri“ über Athen dient uns als Basis eines Transfers nach München. Wir werden zwei geeignete Gebäudesituationen aus den 60er-90er Jahren in München auswählen und diese entsprechend weiterentwickeln.

Ziel des Fachprojekts ist die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Baustoff Lehm und dessen Anwendung in der Architektur. Grundsätzlich kann Lehm in allen Bereichen des Hochbaus – sowohl im Innen- aus auch im Außenbereich eingesetzt werden. Entsprechend vielfältig sind die Bauweisen und Techniken.

Städtebauliche Tiefe & Offenheit verstehen wir als Beitrag zur „Open City“. Wir recherchieren räumliche Situationen in der Stadt am Übergang vom Stadtraum zum Gebäude, insbesondere „tiefe und offene“ Fassaden- und Gebäudetypologien. Das Ziel ist die Erstellung eines Entwurfswerkzeugkastens für eine Offene Stadt.

Das Forschungsseminar beschäftigt sich mit dem heute kaum bekannten Münchner Architekten Helmuth Wolff. Seine durchdachten und innovativen großen Wohnanlagen, die in der zweiten Hälfte der 1920er Jahre entstanden, stehen zwischen Moderne, Art Deko und Münchner Tradition. Neben Großaufträgen zählen Villen und Innenraumgestaltungen zu seinem Werk.

Wie können wir filmisch den Stadtraum begreifen? Welchen Blick finden wir auf den öffentlichen Raum? Durch die Produktion von dokumentarischen Kurzfilmen in Kleingruppen erschließen wir uns die Stadt auf filmische Weise. Die Ergebnisse werden im mobilen Fahrradkino Ciné Veló Cité öffentlich gezeigt.

Neben der tatsächlichen Planungsleistung des Architekten ist im Vorfeld zum Projektstart das Bauprojekt entsprechend zu strukturieren.
Planen im Sinne von Terminplanung ist das systematische Suchen und Festlegen von Zielen, sowie der daraus abgeleiteten Aufgaben und Arbeitsmittel zur Zielerreichung.

In diesem Kurs beschäftigen wir uns mit dem Verhältnis von Statik und Bewegung in Bezug auf den Raum. Untersuchungsgegenstand sind Orte, die durch Bewegung definiert werden, zur Bewegung einladen oder nur in Bewegung wahrgenommen werden können. Dies können große, kleine, öffentliche, private, offene oder geschlossene Räume sein.

Exil - Wege und Auswege für Architekten im 20. Jahrhundert

Das Seminar untersucht Bauten und Biographien, von denen etliche eng mit der klassischen Moderne in Deutschland zusammenhängen. Eines der Länder, die in den 1930er Jahren deutsche Architekten aufgenommen haben, ist die Türkei. Bis heute sind in Ankara und Istanbul Spuren ihrer Arbeit sichtbar.

With the declaration of the capital of the new Turkish Republic in 1923, Ankara symbolizes Turkey's leap into modernity. The provincial city had to be rapidly developed into the new capital with the necessary infrastructure. German-speaking architects in exile played a crucial role in this process.

In preparation for the excursion (planned for June 2024), we want to explore the urban development on the basis of the social and political background.
