Digital Circularity

Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) is creating half of our landfill waste and 40% of CO2-emissions. To achieve carbon neutrality in AEC, we cannot afford to use new off-the-shelf materials every time. We have to find smart ways to use and re-use building material - every little bit of it!

This creates a number of new challenges, but also new opportunities for digital technologies: Scout for available materials in databases and on web-platforms. Adapt designs to variable material dimensions and properties with parametric models. Fabricate mass-customized parts with CNC-tools. Develop new connections for easy assembly and disassembly etc.

In this FWP we will experiment with low-tech materials and high-tech tools to find new solutions in a hands-on way and advance digital circularity.
