Buildings are not just inanimate structures made of concrete, steel and glass. They are, in fact, a reflection of us, our culture, habits, values and lifestyle. They evolve over time, just like we do. Some buildings age with elegance, others don’t, and many struggle to catch up. As we move towards a more sustainable and technologically advanced future, buildings will need to adapt accordingly.
In this course, we will explore the changing nature of our built environment. Examining how futuristic visions have shaped our present and how they might shape our future. Together, we will develop unique solutions for the existing building stock and gain deep understanding of the evolving nature of our built environment and the tools needed to design innovative solutions for the challenges of the future. These solutions could range from designing robot-friendly floor plans, creating drone landing ports for online deliveries, or even building stations for the next trip with a flying taxi.
Meeting and introduction: Thursday 23.03.2021, 2:00pm, Room 413
