Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine is causing immeasurable human suffering as well as extensive damage to buildings and civilian infrastructure. The project Mapping Ukraine attempts to capture the full extent of the destruction without ignoring individual loss. This presentation will demonstrate strategies for using spatial science and digital technology to map the condition of built infrastructure as a whole, as well as the condition of individual buildings.

Basil Roth is co-initiator and co-project lead of Mapping Ukraine, an ETH Zurich initiative, and a board member of the Swiss Network with Ukraine.
